Colour Q #234

I always pop over to the Colour Q to see their most amazing color pallettes! I don't often get to play because I don't have many of the colors, but sometimes I can squeak by with something similar. Here's the beautiful inspiration this week:

I matched some Recollections colored paper to create my card, with Neenah solar white also. The flowers were created with Die-Namics Royal Rolled Rose, Memory Box Fancy Blossoms and a few Marvy flower punches. I added some pearl embellies to coordinate with the flowers on the comb.  I used my Martha Stewart trellis border punch to mimic the teeth of the comb. The stamp is Just Rite. Here's my card:

Happy crafting!

Freshly Made Sketches #129

Here's a look at this week's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches:

I toned it down and used all solid colors, which is VERY rare for me. I love very bright, patterned paper. The white paper is Neenah solar white and the colored paper is Recollections. To make a pattern on this card, I cut out different colors with Spellbinders Fancy Lattice die. Man, don't those little inserts pop out when you use this die? They go everywhere! I placed the colors back into the lattice in sections to make a pattern of flowers. The large flower was cut using a Spellbinders Poseabilities die, which was my first set ever purchased. Since I had it out, I used it for a few cards this week. The leafy border is also SB. The Wish stamp is from Just Rite. Here's my card. I took the picture outside in between the rain showers, so that's the spots you see (or hopefully don't see!).

Thank you Fresh Girls for all that you do to make this fun!

The Deconstructed Sketch #144

Jen over at The Deconstructed Sketch has this awesome sketch this week:

Deconstructed Sketch 144

I love square cards! I find them easier to design for some reason. Here's my card:

I used my new Spring & Summer stack from Die Cut With a View for all the patterned paper. The white paper is Neenah solar white and the colored paper is Recollections. The bird/flower stamp is Hampton Arts and the Hello stamp is Stampendous. I cut and popped up the largest circle flower, which were colored with Spectrum Noir markers. The cut out "flowers" were cut with Spellbinders dies (my first set ever purchased actually) which I have had around for quite some time! I added a bit of embellies to the flowers.

Enjoy your day!

The Shabby Tea Room Week #211

It's "Bits and Bobbles" for inspiration at The Shabby Tea Room this week. Here's the inspiration photo:

Some of the designer inspiration reminded me that my Mother-In-Law had given me a package of 6 plain, white gift bags awhile ago, something I had never worked with before. So I gave it a whirl!  I love all things burlap, twine and Kraft and used a lot of these on my bag. Here's my bag:

Items used are Prima paper, with the print , family ticket and Cherish label being cut from one of the pages. Also used Recollections Kraft and Aqua paper. I hand cut the tag and used Spellbinders for the decorative matting. The cute little bird and branch are Marianne Designs and the flower is also SB. The hearts and resin were loose in my stash. I'll put some bobbles or chocolates in the bag and gift it back to my Mother-In-Law.

Enjoy your weekend.

Viva la Verve March Week 3

Lot's of fun playing at Viva la Verve this week. They have a sketch and inspiration photo. Love when that happens!

My card is made with...you guessed it - Recollections paper. This brand from Michael's makes up most of my stash. The bright green/yellow paper is Bazzill. I used two Verve stamp sets - Celebrating You and Floral Symphony. I had a smudge when I stamped the flower the first time, so I stamped it again and added it with foam tape. Looks kind of cool. I also like how the stamp looks with some white space instead of being totally colored in. That's because I couldn't line up the solid stamp with the outline stamp, ha! I just got this stamp set, so be nice. I used a SB die for the cutout circle in the back, a MS punch for the leafy border and an EK Success die for the butterfly. The crochet flower came two in a pack for $1.00 at Michaels.

Enjoy your day!

The Card Concept Week #6

This week I'm posting in the Clean & Layering category (I think) at The Card Concept. I hope "clean" doesn't necessarily mean white 'cause, well I love Kraft paper and found a really neat paper pad from DCWV with patterned Kraft paper and had to tear into it! Here's this week's inspiration photo:

I totally missed on the colors, but did make a Birthday card, hee hee! Here's my card with a close up of the flower to show the different colors of the Kraft paper:

Along with the DCWV Kraft patterned paper, I used Bazzil paper for the card base and mat. The stamp is from Stampendous, stamped with Memento Ink.

Hoping you have a terrific week!

Freshly Made Sketches #128

Here's the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches this week:

Very sweet! Here's my card:

All of the paper is from Recollections, which I purchase at my local Michael's store. Not sure if you can tell, but the light paper is pearlized. I love that paper! The stamp is Hampton Arts which I stamped with Staz On on the pearl paper and then pink. I cut and paper pieced some of the letters. The balloon is punched with a Martha Stewart punch.

Toodles and thanks for looking!

The Deconstructed Sketch #143

Rush, rush rush! It's Sunday and here I am again trying to post several challenges! I do make my cards during the week, but the hardest part for me is taking the pictures. For this week at The Deconstructed Sketch, there is this very neat, fun sketch:

And here's my card with a few close ups:

I couldn't for the life of me get that banner straight. Go ahead and laugh, I did! The paper is My Minds Eye and Bazzil; the stamps are Just Rite and the flutterbys are punched with EK Success.

Have a great week!

Viva la Verve March Week 2

Time again for Viva la Verve March sketches! Anyone else think this month is flying by? Great weather in Virginia for the weekend, low 70's. Back to 40's Monday though. Here's the sketch for Viva la Verve March Week 2:

How fun is that! So many possibilities. Once I see a new sketch, I usually start thinking about what I have on hand to compliment the sketch even before I go to my craft den. For this one I remembered some bright, happy ribbon I found recently at my local Michael's. The ribbon is from Recollections and has four patterns, which totally remind me of young school days. I used one of the ribbons twice to coordinate with the sketch. All of the paper used is also from Recollections. I used the Happy Graduation stamp from Verve Dare To Be You, cut out the leaf and circles with Spellbinders dies. The apple is from a free coloring page website and is colored with Copics. Now I need to find a little prince or princess graduating from Kindergarten or Elementary School:

Have a great day!

The Deconstructed Sketch #142

Oh, my! I got my days mixed up and just about missed posting this on time. Not used to posting during the week. The sketch this week at The Deconstructed Sketch goes like this:

I used all Recollections paper and matched up the bright stripped patterned paper with colored cardstock. The panels are embossed with a Cuttlebug EF. The image is Hero Arts and is stamped in Memento ink. The image is mounted on a Spellbinders die (that I got for $10!)  The Thank You sentiment is Just Rite and is mounted on Die-Namics banner die. The little do-hickeys at the top right are SB.  I added a metal flower from my stash and a few cute buttons. Here's my card:

And a few other images of the focal points:

OK! I really rushed this post. Thanks for looking.

Freshly Made Sketches #127

Hello, hope everyone is having a happy, stamping, crafting time!  I sure am, posting my card for Freshly Made Sketches. Here's the sketch:

I used DCWV patterned paper titled Sweet along with Recollections paper for the base and mat. The stamps are Heidi Grace titled Sweets, how about that! Stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics. Is this yummy or what?

Enjoy your day!

Viva la Verve Mar Week 1

Woo hoo! I received my new Verve stamps last week (on sale!) and am posting for Viva la Verve March week 1 challenge. Here are the photos for the sketch + color challenge:

All of my papers are from Recollections; card base, mat and patterned paper. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Modern Wallpaper that looks kind of like the pattern on the paper. How cool is that? The Verve stamps are Lean on Me and Birthday to You. I used Spellbinders dies for the sentiment and the label behind it and leave is from Poppystamps.  Here's my card:

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

The Card Concept #5

Hello, and happy almost Spring! Our temps in Virginia fluctuated this week between 35 and 72 degrees. That's quite a span, and of course everyone is getting sick. I'm playing again with Lesley and the gals at The Card Concept with this beautiful, yummy color inspiration:

Lovely and oh, so appealing! I think this goes under the heading Clean & Layered. For my card I started with a Neenah solar white card base, then a layer of brown Recollections for the mat. I embossed the next layer with a Darice honeycomb folder. The flourish is Die-Namics, the "flowers" are cut with two sizes of Fiscar punches and the flower is a Recollections punch. I added a little sequin bling to top it off. The stamp is Just Rite, stamped with Memento and I double stamped and popped up the sentiment.

Well, these photos are just awful! Hope you see beyond my bad photography skills, ha ha!
