The Shabby Tea Room #224

Hello shabby gals! They've done it again at The Shabby Tea Room with a beautiful inspiration photo and the challenge to create a BIRTHDAY card or project inspired by the photo USING PINKGREENand POLKA DOTS!

What an amazing photo! Each week I think I've seen a favorite and the next week I am inspired all over again. Pink and Green are one of my favorite color combos. For my card I used Wild Rose Studio "Annabelle's Garden" patterned paper along with Bazzill colored cardstock and Recollections polka dots for the bows. I also broke out this cutesy birthday stamp set from Wild Rose Studio called Happy Birthday Bunny which I colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up for dimension. I decorated with Spellbinders Curved Borders Two, Spellbinders Heirloom Flourish, Lil' Inker Designs bows and the little birdhouse from La La Land, cut on coregated paper and inked a little on the edges. Isn't this bunny stamp a cutie:

Thanks so much for stopping by. Ta ta for now!

The Card Concept #12

Ahoy! This greeting is in reference to the nautical theme I'm playing at The Card Concept. Here's the inspiration photo:

I'm still trying to work in all the different card types, so I'm going to call this one Shabby Chic due to the mesh I added. This may be stretching it so feel free to let me know what type you think it is! I used DCWV Juniper Berry (blue/white polka dots), Recollections (red/white) and Recollections colored cardstock. I had the silver paper in my stash and don't know the maker. The sentiment, knots and anchor are from Avery Elle "Knotty" stamp set. Here's my card:

Have a crafty day!

Cardabilities #101

What beautiful possibilities with this week's sketch at Cardabilities! I really love their sketches which allow for lots and lots of flowers and embellies. Here's the sketch:

I made a tall and skinny wedding card, perfect size to enclose a check. The papers are Me & My Big Ideas (gold) Recollections (patterned) and Bazzil Pearl. The sentiment is Hero Arts "Everyday Sayings" embossed in gold and Prima background stamp for the script stamped on vellum. Also used Marianne Designs leaves, Spellbinders Labels 17 and Martha Stewart punch for the lace border. Then...lots and lots of flowers! There is a bit of crystal garland wound in the flowers. Here's my card:

Have a great day!

The Shabby Tea Room #223

Hello and Happy Summer! The first day of Summer dawned rainy and dreary here in Virginia. Thankfully it's looking beautiful this afternoon. I finally finished my project for The Shabby Tea Room just seconds ago. I had a couple of false starts this week, but am happy with the result. Here's the inspiration photo for this week  entitled "Pretty Gifts and Packaging" along with the challenge from Rebecca to create a gift or gift packaging inspired by the photo!  (bag, box, gift wrap, unique packaging, etc.) .

I actually started decorating a gift bag and realized that I submitted one not that long ago at The Shabby Tea Room. Then I remembered I had a box of jumbo bakery boxes in my cupboard that I used a few years ago to make baby gifts. I had a little shop on Etsy with baby clothes swirled to resemble cupcakes inside the decorated bakery boxes. I do still occasionally make them for friends 'cause I think they are so darn cute! Here are my project photos:

I used three patterned papers from DCWV Preppy Princess stack to cover the box then decorated with seam binding, pearls, lace and mulberry flowers. I used Spellbinders dies and gold hammered paper to make the "hardware" on the corners. The stamp is from Recollections "Baby Girl" stamped with Memento ink (the ribbon covered it up on the first photo, oops). I didn't need a baby gift just yet so instead of clothes I rolled some felt for the cupcakes and surrounded with tulle inside the box.

I had so much fun with this project! It's good to get away from making cards for a spell. Happy Crafting!

The Shabby Tea Room #222

Hello crafty friends! I'm happy to be playing along at The Shabby Tea Room this week and also super excited to be this week's Guest Designer. Our challenge this week is Lavender & Lace’ – create a card/project inspired by the photo using lavender, cream/white, lace/doilie + distressing. Here's the lovely inspiration photo in all it's lavender goodness:

How scrumptious is that? This would make a beautiful guest bedroom, you think? So this week I went off the card path and altered a picture frame. It's not my first, but it's the first that I have shared on my blog. I started with a naked wood frame and painted first with gesso, then with gray acrylic and lastly with white acrylic. Then I scrounged around my husband's work shelves and found some sandpaper and began distressing. That was actually kind of fun! I found the "recipe" on how to distress wood on Wikipedia. I took a doily, some white ribbon and some glitter tulle and made the corner ornament with lots of mulberry roses from Wild Orchid Crafts and Prima. I used Spellbinders Labels 8 and 17 for the background of DCWV Violet Leaf papers along with DCWV Foil Stack. I used the same papers for the dress which I drew and cut by hand. I drew teardrops for the bottom of the dress from 3 different patterns and glued them together. I added some lace on the top and bottom with some pearls for good measure! The mirror is Spellbinders "Mirror Mirror" die which I absolutely love. I cut the mirror with paper from the two DCWV pads. Lastly, I added a few embellies on the corners. Here's the finished product:

Thanks for looking and go create a fabulous day!

My Favorite Things WSC #179

Hello craft bloggers! In addition to posting for this weeks challenge at My Favorite Things, I've been making a wish list for their June releases. Have you seen the goodies they are previewing? Yummy! Here's this week's sketch:

MFTWSC179

I used some bright Prima paper "All About Me" and left my card mostly white. The colors in the patterned paper are so bright against the white. I also used Bazzil colored paper and Neenah Solar White for stamping. MFT stamps used are Birthday Greetings and Abstract Art stamped with Memento Ink. Here's my card:

Enjoy your day!

VLV June Week 1

Yipppeee! It's sketch + color time at Viva la Verve for their first sketch in June. I must say this color scheme really was a challenge! After a while of pondering I stopped over-thinking it and dug in my scrap pile. Hope it worked ok! Here are the sketch and color photos:

I can's say exactly what the papers are, but I'm going to guess Recollections. I use a lot of their papers and these seem like their line. I do know the aqua is Bazzil and the white is Neenah Solar White. My Verve stamps are Birthday Wishes, Elegant Flower and the little flower is a "freebie" I got with one of my orders. Everything is stamped with Memento Ink and the flower is colored with Copics. The leaves are Poppystamp Lorelai Leaf die and the matting is cut with Lil' Inker Designs stitched rectangles. Here's what I eventually came up with:

Whew! That was a hard one Verve Girls! Thanks for the awesome challenge.

The Card Concept #11

Hi there! I'm making my blog rounds and stopping off at The Card Concept to leave my little tidbit. They have a hot color challenge happening with this very fashionable inspiration photo:

I kept with the fashion theme along with the colors and made a Father's Day card. I chose Clean & Layering for this one. I used Bazzil and Neenah Solar White paper and stamped with Staz On ink. The ties and sentiment are from Recollections. I used Lil' Inkers Designs dies for the stitched matting. Here's my card:

Thanks for looking!

Freshly Made Sketches #139

Greetings blog friends! I managed to get several cards done over the past week and am happily posting on Freshly Made Sketches. Here's the very cute sketch by Rita:

I made a very clean and simple card, using my newly acquired honeycomb die from La La Land. I ran a few colors through and randomly affixed them inside the honeycomb and placed a few around the card. The bees are from Recollections, stamped with Staz On and cut out. I hand cut the tag and stamped My Favorite Things Distressed Backgrounds with Staz On also. The Hello die is from The Crafters Workshop which I cut three times and stacked up for dimension. The yellow and white patterned paper is DCWV Spring & Summer, the yellow and black are Bazzil and the white is Neenah Solar White.  Here's my cheery card:

Hope this brought you a smile! Keep calm and craft on!

Cardabilities Sketch #100

Hello everyone. Today I am crafting with the ladies at Cardabilities whom I have been joining for only a few weeks. I love their sketches! So many opportunities to add lots of lace, flowers and such. Here is The Sketch:

I started with a beautiful paper pad from DCWV called "Violet Leaf". This pad has all shades of purple along with a lot of foil. I added some patterned paper from K & Co, and also a bit of Neenah Solar White for the stamping. The tiny sentiment is from MSE and stamped with Distress Ink. I hand cut this to look like a waving banner. I used a few dies - Marianne Design for the little birdie, Poppystamps for the leaves (Lorelai Leaf) and Spellbinders for the curved flap. Added a bit of lace, some pearl trim and the nest with pearls for eggs at the last minute. I made the nest from fibers (I think it's called sisal) I bought in the floral section of my craft store. Here's my card:

Thanks for looking! Have a crafty day.

The Shabby Tea Room # 221

Oooo, la la! Some romance is happening at The Shabby Tea Room this week. The theme is Vintage Love with this beautiful inspiration photo:

Lenet asks that we  create a card or project inspired by the COLORS IN THE PHOTO AND INCLUDE LACE/RIBBON, ROSES + BLING/GLITTER! My card is made with KaiserCraft "Enchanted Garden" paper pad along with some First Edition paper entitled "Birdsong". The image is from Stampendous and is stamped on Bazzill Pearl paper and colored with Copics. I used SB Labels Seventeen and SB Butterfly Corner on the shimmery paper. There's lace, ribbon, roses, bling and a smidgen of glitter on the little heart. The sentiment is cut from one of the Enchanted Garden papers. Here's my card:

Wishing you all a crafty weekend!

VLV May Week 5

Aren't you excited to have a 5th week at Viva la Verve? I sure am! Here's the terrific, way far out sketch:

Staring at this makes my eyes cross. It's like an optical illusion! I had fun with it, as I usually do at VLV. I used Fancy Pants "Park Bench" patterned paper along with Bazzill solids. I picked Verve Poppy Birthday and stamped the flowers, then spritzed and crumbled them up. You can see I didn't think this all the way through because the flowers on the paper sure aren't poppies! But you didn't notice that right??? I used EK Success punch for the butterflies. Here's my card:

Have a terrific week!
